Citizens Advice Bureaux as E-intermediaries

With the Government keen to explore the potential for e-intermediaries, Citizens Advice is forging ahead to equip itself with the technical infrastructure necessary for such a role. But there are important questions around the independence of CABs. John Wheatley explores these and other issues.

The apparent leak in February of some of the proposals in Peter Gershon’s efficiency review reinforced rumours that radical streamlining in Government is expected to save up to £15bn per year, and has perhaps given a boost to proposals to develop a role for intermediaries in the delivery of electronic government services....
