Picture this ...

Revolutions in fully electronic and automatic image processing are allowing Lincolnshire County Council to open their picture archive to individuals over the web. Stuart Webster outlines the background and explains how collections can now be tailored in seconds for clients or internal departments.

It's an all-too-familiar scenario for workers in many organisations - local authorities included. You want a particular image, but have no way of knowing who within the council might happen to have the image you require, its quality and how it can be used. Lincolnshire County Council's new image archive facility means that for one authority, at least, all such uncertainty is now definitely a thing of the past.
