Mic Dover asks if epi systems can effectively deliver health information to local communities?

Touchscreen kiosks, the world wide web, cable TV, call centres - the channels of electronic information are proliferating and becoming ever more popular. Local authorities are making increasing use of electronic public information (epi) systems for community information. But can they be an effective vehicle for health information? And can they help to develop healthy communities? The Health Education Authority (HEA) and the Society of Public Information Networks (SPIN) have been carrying out research into this over the last 12 months and have identified some interesting trends.
